I have some youngish gold rams.
one pair in a pleco tank and one pair in my QT tank
Both pairs have laid eggs this afternoon!
is this because the air pressure has dropped a little with this rain front today I wonder?

In the wild rain promotes the growth of bacteria and microscopic life forms.

In a Tank bacteria is a problem in the wild it is food.

If natural selection is working the fish that spawn when it is going to rain that is fish that can pick up on the atmospheric changes will have the edge and the fry will stand a better chance of suvival.

So eventualy your going to be left with only fish that can "Lock on " to this aid to suvival.

Natures laws in action.

Mind you it could be the thunder and lightening just makes the female scared and the male offers to let her come in to his cave?

Well I am sure some one has thought that?

I open the fish house dorr and turn off the heaters when I get a prediction of thunder or rain.

Then a water change that night with just neat RO seems to help me get a spawn.

Just remember that Nature is perfect it uses every action because it created that action.
No waste no redundant hangers on just perfect symmetry in every way.

hey

hi
i have always thought the pressure was the cause of my fish spawning, my fishroom is my garage and i open the roller-door everyday in the morning, i find that when its overcast and starts raining in the day, if i do a water change that day then the next day 90% of my fish have got eggs.
always been curious about this so im glad i found someone else who thought the same :)
cheers
pete.
