I have a Juwel Rio 180 with the standard internal filteration and heater housing. I was wondering, is it possible to remove this housing to create more space. If so how would i do it now that it has bacteria established?
I have an old fluvel external filter I'd like to fit.

I have the same tank. Its an easy job to remove the internal juwel filter. Use a sharp knife to remove the black silicone which holds the filter to the side of the tank.

its run with a fluval 405 external and a fluval internal filter for extra flow

hope this has helped

You would need to run the fluval along with the Juwel for a couple of months in the Rio before you take away the Juwel filter box...This will ensure the maturity of the fluval to cope on its own when you take the other on away...If you don't wish to wait that long, you would need to place most of the Juwel filter media into the Fluval so you have a sufficient bi-load to deal with the fish waste.
