A couple of months ago I bought a pair of Fundulopanchax gardneri......I only have the male left, and don't ask me what happened to the female I feel very guilty!

What great fish they are I absolutely love them. I have never seen a fish eat so much, he just eats and eats and you can physically watch him expand at meal times. I did specifically pic this guy as he was chowing down on blood worms in the shop. Are they all such pigs?

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them or breeds them, or has any for sale? I see that it's fairly easy to buy killifish eggs on Ebay but was wondering how easy it really was to hatch them and raise them? I also undersdtand that some of them only live a year, does anyone know which these are?

Any information gratefully received.

They are beautiful and very interesting fish. I think alot of the ones that only live for a year do so only in the wild as they live in puddles in the wet season, spawn then the puddles dry out leaving the adults to perish ( the eggs and kept safe in mud and hatch the next year)

So in captivity they could live longer......i might be wrong about that though.

Really nice fish but love to jump as I found out. Lots of people breed them in fish clubs so google for one in your area. I kept mine in 12" cubes with a tiny bubble filter. I fed mine absolutley anything and the would stuff there faces.

I found out with the female that they were jumpers when I was revamping the tank.......I found her on the floor well dead, I hadn't noticed her jump out. I felt really bad about that because in fact she was a real character. I didn't know there was such a thing as fish clubs!

Really??. There are some serious fish perverts out there GG. Mostly liverbearers and the like. The further north you go the more geeky they become:lol: but well worth checking one out if you have one near you. I have just picked up 50 blue moscow show guppy fry. I felt a little bit guilty as they are going to be meeting Peter and Petra tomorrow:)
