So today while replanting a few pants my gourami had pulled out for their bubble nests I noticed my kribs had spawned.

The are somewhere between 8-15 fry around 5-8 mm in length. Parents seem to be doing a decent job fending off any hungry house mates but am still a little concerned as my house mate said he thought e saw a rummy nose snacking on one.

So my questions are how old do you think these fry are and do you recommend a fry saver? Or should I just let nature take it's course?

Pretty pleased with the spawn regardless as I didn't have any real intention on breeding them. Also will get some pics up when I get some decent snaps.

Congrats on the spawn! I lost a lot of baby platys because I wasn't watching at the right time. I'll let someone else answer your question about size and age :)

Hi all,
I'd probably leave them in with their parents, Kribs are pretty good parents, in fact often too good, leading to fatalities amongst other fish. If you are worried about them you can use a fry saver, it needs some cover in it, either a floating plant or some Java moss. Once they are beginning to colour up as sub-adult you will have to take them out, as the parents won't tolerate them.

Now they have started spawning, they will spawn very regularly, and it is easy to be over-run with fry unless you have fish feed them too, or a sales outlet which will take them.

cheers Darrel

Thanks for the advice.
they seem to be doing ok so ive decided to let them be. Dither fish are serving thier purpose well.

here is a picture of mum with the fry hanging out on top of a cave.

she still looks quite big so i'll keep an eye on her and the cave she calls home.

Talked to my LFS today and he is happy to take them in when they are ready for store credit.
