I just caught a glimpse of my remaining L002 and it's eye looks like it's gonna blow out of its head. It's huge! What does this usually mean when their eyes are bulging?

I'm currently medicating with the fix-it twins after my first one died.

I feed algae wafers every night. Small granules of food for the tetras and occasionally a block of bloodworm or brine shrimp. From what I saw it didn't look like it was bloated but I only saw it for a second.

Cut the feeding down to 2 or 3 times a week,10% water changes 3 or 4 times a week and the fix it twins.
Then think what you have in the tank and about your housekeeping regime.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm still medicating. Doing small water changes.
It's breathing really fast. I really hope it pulls through for me :(

see popeye is first caused from bad water ie high amonia/nitrate! but i dont think that is your problem as tetras are weak they canot handle high levels so they would of been droping off first which would of warned you ?

bactiria behind the eye is formed after the eye is poped out which is the major pronlem so if your treating it for that thats great. (sorry not sure wat the twins are)

sorry for the loss of your first plec did it die from the same problem?

also try not to stress your fish out by try to see it every day or 2 or 3 times to see if it is inproving that will only just stress it out too much

p.s find what caused it, was it a fight! scratch? or was it bad water? need to remove or fix that problem as your already doing WCs (as said before) so thats great!

all the best!

My first one died suddenly overnight with no signs of illness.
I had started medicating the tank with melafix and pimafix (the twins) just to protect the other fish from any invisible illness. I hadn't seen the other one for a while and when I did I saw it's eyes were really big.

Update.
Another water change tonight. Still medicating. Could see the L002 and it still seems to be breathing fast but its eyes don't seem to be quite as large as they were, but still big. It's only a small change but I'm remaining hopeful.

Itis interesting the way both fish went within a small time. Be careful with your bristlenoses. Maybe feed less. I feed my plecs every other day sometimes less and other people like macvsog feed only 2-3 times per week
