As you can Imagine I was uber excited when I found out that Jozebs had managed to get some L027 Araguaia, and at the price they were at I jumped at the chance. Sadly when it arrived I was very concerned as it seemed very still and had something unusual coming out of its mouth.

I soon realised my mistake. I should have known since it came in an envelope.

Anyway, I had to console myself and I thought that nothing would be better than this fella.

I've had him about a week now and he's bloody brilliant! Very active and not scared at all. He's not out of the woods yet but I think he should be fine. I saw this fish about 6 months ago on ebay and was gutted I couldn't get him since he was about 15 mins from my Grandparent's house. But this time he was even closer. He did give me a good scare though, just after I put him in the tank he jumped out. Thankfully the tank is only about 2.5 feet from the ground, the only visible damage was that he broke his hard caudal ray.

Thanks for comments everyone. Yes, he could do with eating more, he is eating but not as much as Id expect for a Panaque of his size.

Lol.
I opened this thread yesterday & quickly exited when I saw the first photo. Pangs of jealousy shot though me and I could only ask why I can't get those type of fish. It wasn't until this morning that I actually read what was writted & realized I needed to take a better look at the pics. Good one.

This time round it was a real L027 from Rare Aquatics. It was great little shop and adorned with a few of my old plecs! I had a good long chat with Jo and husband Nick (and a cup of tea) and was very impressed as their stock tanks have great large proportions. My favourite bit was actually a poster above their display tank (with my Panaque in!) that actually truthfully told you what their requirements are.

Anyway, back to the fishes. This fella was about 14cm/5.6" and looks to be from the Rio Xingu.

In situ and an update of my larger Xingu. I was very pleased to see he started nibbling at algae wafers immediately although the larger one had something to say about it. The larger is eating well although his eyes are still slightly sunk (not practically popping out like they should be) which concerns me a little. Any ideas about it?
