L134 with ick ?

Hi all,

I have two doubts.

1 - My L134 is with ick ?
2 - The Otocinclus is attacking my L134 ? Is it normal ?

picture is a it fuzzy but i think ii can see what you mean, does look like ick / whitespot. it is proberly due to your fish being stressed cause of the oto.

And with the oto it might be that they arent getting enough algae so they are rasping the slime coat off other fish such as your l134, or it could just be a troublesome oto.

I wish the picture was slightly clearer but I would say it's ich/ick.

The Otocinclus are not really attacking the L134, I think they are feeding off mucus caused by the ich. You can see on the one attached to the L134 that it is grazing.

agree with the above posts - i had this problem with the same combination of pleco's sucking on gourami's . I have no algae at all in my tank, i added more food containing algae subsittute and they stoped sucking!! respects cole

Definitely looks like whitespot...I would raise the temp add extra aeration and get some treatment added.

agree ick, give ottos some more food and they will then stop this behaviour. hope treatment goes well. cheers jk :thumbup:

I raised the temp to 29ºC/84ºF and the L134 seems to better.

In the past I used the temp to treat ick but I don´t think that just it can solve the problem, what you think?


I have 6 x L134 and one L265, and I prefer to not put medicine inside the tank but I don't know what to do now...

i have used temperature by it's self to sort out ick twice before.... it's something to do with the inability for the bacteria to reproduce at the temp and falls off the victim BUT it did come back the second time because i couldn't find the reason for the ick...when i found the reason and addressed it since it has not come back.
So what i am saying is I think it treats the symton not the problem....
my first problem was damage due to fighting
My second problem was hidden poo pileing up behinde the filter
