This L201 has been like this for the past 3 to 4 days, I think its a he, he is in a 4ft tank with 3 other 201s and 13 Pepps, feeding on zucchini and algae wafers, also have IAL in the tank, tank is bare bottom, lots of driftwood, lots of water flow with an Eheim 2026 plus two more sponge filters. Temp is 27'C.
Ph around 7.3

Its just mostly hanging around in the open lately, no other fish having this issue, i assume he is bloated and not an egg bounded female.

What is the cause of action here or is it too late?:dk::dk::dk:

Hi,

I was place in a fry saver and just feed some blanched peas, then nothing the next day. It does look like bloat. Is the poo clear or normal ? cheers jk

Thanks Bigbird! In the time I can see him, no poo has been visible, but will put him in a fry saver tonight and see what happens, not even sure if he is still eating.

L201 can be greedy little gluttons when they want to be and its not uncommon.
I also wouldn't rule it out that its a female and eggbound. I hope not though.
Pea diet it may not eat but really, an adults metabolism isn't that fast and several days without eating won't do it any harm.

You could add a bit of epsom salts to the water. It will make the gh hardness rise but can also have a bit of a laxative effect on fish too.

If you suspect egg binding, I remember vaguely reading somewhere that someone used a cotton tip and olive oil stroked around the vent area? Could work, you never know. :)

It looks like a she.

Just dissolve a teaspoon or half a teasp if its a small tank and add epsoms. Its not dangerous and African cichlid people quite often use it with bicarb soda and salt to raise their ph water.

Yep ordinary cooked peas. You peel it after its cooked and drop it in.

Got home today with the items needed to treat the fish, it was upside down! :wb::wb::wb:

Notice very tinny worms on bottom of tank, almost invisible unless you look very closely with light on, what are these???? White in color.

I have little worms which swim around my tank they are really thin and have a thicker white head :)

Apparentlly they good for the tank eating excess food and what not. When i lower my feeding i tend to find that there is less. Also had them in my grow out tank and turned my wet n dry filter off for a couple of hours and when i restarted it shot heaps in the tank lol

Do yours look like these?

ignore the poo its an old pic lol but you can see the worm thing

They are the ones!!! They only feed on excess food lying around, so now, I have reduce the amount I feed to control these little worms, and also suck out any poo everyday.

Thats what i do. I worried about them too but made some enquiries and is meant to show your tank is healthy or similar.
