Hi all im new to this forum but not to fish keeping.

First i will try give you a run down of my situation.

Tank

180l SeaShell Tank
Fluval 305
Fluval 4+
Air Pump
Heater
Mopani Wood(old n softer)
Sumatra Wood
Redmoor Wood

I recently acquired a small group of 3 decent sized L204s for a over ambitious breeding attempt. They arrived on fri 18th and were left in quarantine in a mates shop till wed 23rd all went perfect.

I had previously had whitespot on a loach i had and treat my tank for it about 4-6months ago and it took a while but only loach showed symptoms and healed. Loach was traded in when i got plecs also.

Today when looking into my tank 2 of my L204s have what looks like the starting signs of white spot on them, at first i thought it was just sand but now im sure its whitespot. Should i treat the tank or wait and hope they settle and recoever on there own i have some interpret whitespot treatment ready.

Forgot to add water parameters are normal no ammonia , nitrite and nitrate were 5 but have recently done water change and gravel vac so should be 0 also.

Also tank has been running for over 3 years and i have kept fish for over 6 years.

Make sure that you get the nitrite down to zero or you will struggle to heal the fish.
Treat the fish as it will not go on its own. I use King british WS3 as it works very well. Esha exit is another whitespot treatment. It can be used with Esha2000 at the same time, so you are treating the whitespot and the damage left by the whitespot

yes worth treating early - i also think WS3 is good.
if cant get to shop for a couple of days, at least try upping the tank temp a few degrees, to 28 or 30 even.

Dreaded white spot

I had a reoccurring white spot issue that wouldnt leave my rusty plec alone until I raised and left the temperature to 30 degree's but I also added extra oxgen to compensate for the loss, never had a problem since! (fingers crossed) hope this helps and good luck p.s I did not and have never had to use any kind of medication since the temp rise , better for the fish and the wallett!
