L260 trapping

My L260 male has the smaller female trapped this morning :woohoo: She was like a barrel when I collected her from Jo 2 weeks ago so glad she is getting a chance to slim down :whistle:

Fingers crossed we get eggs

Hi, mine trapped a good few times before they spawned!! now they spawn every 4-5 weeks. Spawns started with 6-7 eggs now its 15-20 per spawn. Found the best thing to do was to leave the male with the first few spawns to let him settle, now I remove the male and cave to a fry saver and wait for the fry to come out the cave and into the fry saver, before removing the male and cave back into the main tank.

Checked this morning quickly as I was going out early and noticed female was out the cave and thought she looked thinner but I couldn't see anything. I just got back so had another good look with the torch and male is protecting a bunch of eggs <3

I'm no longer a hypan virgin :whistle:

No idea, as soon as I saw eggs, at least 5 I backed away PDQ :lol:

wonderful news,
I am sure these are getting rarer than ever
they typically hatch on 6-8 days i think, depends a bit on tank temp, but may then be another week or sometimes two before babies emerge.

Funny you should say that as I got one of those the other day :lol:

This is my first hypan spawning so am not quite sure and like Irene says depends on temperature but i'll start getting excited towards the beginning of next week

Went in to check on fish this morning and found 2 fry out of the cave <3

I've popped them into a floating fry trap. I did then take a peek in the cave and there is at least one other fry in there under dad but he is blocking the view very well :wb:

I've taken some pics but will add them later as my mum is with me now for a week till she goes back to Canada on Monday morning so we're out and about all over the place :whistle:
