is ist safe to presume, that if 3 of my 333's have gone straight into caves they are def males?

what am i looking for to distinguish their sex please.

if i remove a fish from the cave/ tank to be photographed as i'm not sure its a 333, will this stress this fish/ other in the tank out for long???

All my 333,s cave so its not possible to sex them this way, Infact IMO its not possible to sex any plec this way.

If your gonna get one out to photograph then you might aswell get them all out and photo them at the same time. The other option is to leave them alone and study them for a few weeks and that way you will begin to have a good idea of which sex they are.

IMO the best shot to get is of the whole fish directly from above, If possible try to make sure the fish is sat on the bottom (so its flat). Dont use a bowl/bucket with curved sides.

Side shot is helpful too:D

if you dont want to disturb them try taking a photo (flash) of the tail sticking out of the cave and see how hairy it is.
