Hi everyone,

In my main tank, 200 liters, I have found very little leeches, at least I guess they are looking like it, very tiny transparent/white worm on the glass, progressing like a caterpillar..

Any idea how to remove? i dont want to use copper cause the tank is full of caridina

help!

I'll try to photograph it but this is really tiny

ok it is ok no ned to panic. these leeches or planaria are caused by overfeeding and do not harm the fish unless you have a lot of them. reduce the feeding and make sure you clean all of the left over food and do some water changes. You wil find that they will become less and less, so no need to worry, just feed less. merci jan:thumbup:

I throw a few gudgeons or guppys in when i get planeria, they love eating them. I have cultured them in the past as a cichlid fry food. As BB said it is nothing to worry about but they do go well in overfed tanks so that is something to look at.
Some of my most successful Plec and shrimp breeding tanks are full of them and I have noticed no ill effects.

Planeria are thin and white, aquatic leaches are usually grey and grow longer and fatter, and change shape as they move like a non-aquatic leach moves.

copper based meds will kill planeria but I wouldn't bother using them, just up your water changes and lower your feeding and it should be sweet.

Looks like Planaria to me ie flat worms, A few aren't a bother, I kill mine with Panacur25 when I see a few more than I am comfortable with,, They are from over feeding..
