Perhaps many of you knew that there is a recall on the Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro heaters for overheating issues. I just found out about this 2 weeks ago, and low and behold 2 weeks later, it happened to me.

My tank water was getting very warm on Wednesday so I lowered the thermostat to 78 degrees (I normally keep it on 80). About an hour later and the digital thermomter read 86 degrees! I lowered the temp as low as it would go but I noticed that it didn't click off. I unplugged it and removed it, and it smelled like something burning. The heater was SO SO hot that you couldn't touch it without burning your fingers. I called Marineland yesterday (I own 6 of these heaters) and they're replacing all of them with Visi-Therm heaters. I saw a picture on another forum where this heater got so hot it blew out the side of someone's 75 gallon tank. Trust me, this thing was so hot that I can easily see how that could happen. Imagine that happening while your at work

So, if you own one of these heaters seriously consider removing it. I didn't believe it until it happened to me. And now I've read numerous stories of it happening to other people.

That's bad news, I hope all your fish are ok?
It is however nice to see Marineland stepping up to the plate and making good on their mistakes.
