Need advice on used tank!

I recently posted asking for help on resealing my 55 used tank. Now that I have gotten all the old silicone out I noticed a label under the bottom panel of glass that says the tank was made in 1989!! I purchased the tank, stand, hood, light, and old filters for $100. The seller told me it was about 10 years old! More like 20+ years old! ALso I have noticed that the bottom has a lot more scratches than I originally thought. I can even see a few small chips.

So is it worth it to reseal the tank? Is there a way I can reinforce the bottom? Or should I just by a new tank to go with my stand and hood? What would you do?

It is an issue of

1. Can you afford a new tank , i do not know how expensive they are in the USA
or
2. you can reseal and even place another piece of glass on the bottom on top of the old one.

In my view for piece of mind and also I do not have the skill to reseal properly, I would buy a new tank. cheers jk

Thanks for the reply. I can afford a new tank, but first I'm going to look into finding a piece of glass to reinforce the bottom. Hope this works out!
