hi guys i need some advice/info/help our little drain from the sink has been blocked got round to cleaning all the crap out today and it was sand that has blocked it from the water changes im doing. Its just built up and up over months, is there anything i can buy/make that will let me put the buckets of water down the sink but also let me catch the sand aswell ??

cant you put it down a toilet or in the garden?, the only other way would be to pour it through some kind of strainer (sieve or collinder with some filter foam in it)

I made the same mistake once and blocked the kitchen sink up but luckily was able to undo the u bend pipe and tip out the sand. After that I would just let the sand settle in the bucket at the bottom and tip water out on an angle slowly and not stir up the sand. I would put the sand back into the tank afterwards.

I suppose pouring water through cloth would catch the sand or a hose straight outside would solve your problem. Maybe pour the bucket of water into the outside drain or grass.

How come there is so much sand mixed with the waste water?

its my own fault as im sucking up all the poo from the sand i sum times go to close and get a little bit but il just wait till it settles like you said

Get yourself a big fine weave fish net. Bigger the better.
Another option if to have a sink trap installed under the sink. Water goes thru a big U bend and a cup which is easy to unscrew and empty sits there.
