hi everyone,
got a Fluval E300 3 mos ago, the temp rose 2d twice, and today , up and down 2d often. I called the store and will replace ,but I don't want another Fluval. I am using my old Rena tonight, cross my fingers, and in the morning, will replace.

Need members advice what brand they recommend and what brands they don't ,ie , had probs with. Hope I can get some input by morining here as I am off the computer at 6:00am.. and can't deal with stressing out over these heaters.. thanks advance
Georgie

Truthfully, I don't think I have ever bought a branded heater. I just bought the cheapest heater I could find on ebay, but then double then up incase of heater failure. I then as another safety measure have a temp alarm in my sump, so if it goes above 31 degrees C, I get a loud wailing noise and that ain't the wife.

 yeah, I like the idea of the alarm, but still gotta figure what brand to get, leaning toward Eheim, but not sure I can get that brand at my aq store and I gotta come home with something.
Read the old threads here ,seems that, or another Rena smart, hope Eheim available in US:dk:
Thanks for responding...anyway , Georgie

I go for eheim. You get in my view better value for money and in Australia the amount we pay for Ls, you would like to think to get the best equipment. I do like the idea of the sump alarm, but what happens if you do not hear it ?
cheers jk

crossin my fingers they got the Eheim ...and yeah, the alarm is peace of mind if your'e in hearing distance...so depending on how often that is ,or if someone hears it and contacts you , it is worth it.
Today my hubby woke me to tell me the light on the Fluval was red cuz he heard me talking NASTY about it the first 2 times. I was glad he did...my ''alarm'' . Thanks, Georgie

Can you list the heaters that are available to you? Imho, Sera make one of the best heaters out there, but I don't know if it's available to you. Most Manufacturers have a bad batch from time to time, but there are a few that have less than others. Hence my recommendation of Sera. You don't give a 5 year warranty unless you are very confident of your product. Plus it comes with a heater guard as standard.

thanks everyone for the responses--great help and advice. I did not get chance to go this a.m. so called what they have. Ehiem , marineland and fluval . the Ehiem has no guard, but that is the one I will get tomorrow . They also sell alarms for $45 , not sure if need to invest in that though.
Many thanks, Georgie
