Hi everyone,

I am new to tropical fish but have accumulated many tanks within a short period of time. I now have African as well as American cichlids. I also have a number of small peppermint b/n. I think it has become an obsession since I got my first tropical fish, an Oscar cichlid that comes with the AR620 tanks.

I would be great to hear from fish enthusiasts and how they start their obsession with tropical fish.

Cheers, Mike

Hello Mike
to answer your question

most would start out with one tank and start filling it with a few nice fish
after a few shop tours you start to see what you like and should research them

I had lots of africans ,south americans
and exotics,gars,bichir,aro's,and plecos

alot of it is related to looks but also behaviour once you sit a watch them

the best thing is interacting with your fish

I had a mate who played catch with his oscar
a pingpong ball in the tank was launched by him straight to my mate
used to crack us up , said you should have called him rover lol
then there is the challenge of breeding, doing it right aswell
I used to breed BN and peps and gold comps
it was great and they paid their way
helped fund more food supplies and even tanks and filters

I try not to get too many tanks going or it can be too demanding
over the years i found 5 to 8 tanks works for me
thats 2 6ft 3 4ft and some smaller breeding tanks
