hey ev31

After my crappy situation and losing alot of my dear friends to dogy meds i have re-set up my 200ltr tank- i will be adding alot more sand to the bottom for my remaining banjo catfish and whiptail to play but at the moment it is half and half with black small/fine gravel, i willbe adding back sand.

I have also changed the background from my jewl 3d rock effect that was 4 years old! I though gaining an inch on width is never a bad thing. For now i have linded the back, outside with blakc bin bags which i will replace with black card probally (unles ne1 else has suggestions?)

I have gone with a lot of black to try and make all the plec's feel more safe due to the white sand and grey/white stone effect i did have reflecting alot of light- the black is now obsorbing the light.

What else...o yeah i had to get rid of the £40 worth of plants i had only bought about 2months ago for fear of them retaining the medication of somthing- better safe than sorry!! but wil be replacing them with potted plants. not sure what kind yet, need some with leaves that dont blow off in the current and block up the filter!!! ne suggestions?!?! :)

anyway the photo finally :woohoo: remember its only the start ;) but any comment/suggestions welcome

as much as I trust and distrust LFS, I would always take home and do it yourself. You just do not know how their water is etc. You however at home control your enviroment. cheers jk

ps, the tank looks great ! best way to get past that type of ordeal is to concentrate on what fish you have and make them a new home... good for them and good for you !! nice job cc

Looks great...I also agree that a few more pieces of wood would take it to another level...Red moor roots look stunning but take about 3 weeks being weighted down before they stay in place:thumbup:
sorry to steal your thread ,but what is red moor roots , are they the awesome thin squigly wood ? are they native to UK only , as I have never seen it here ,but have seen it in some members tanks.. . I think .....and it looks great .

cool, gonna search for it here ...:) love the look ..thanks for the responses and the photo D-MAC ! that's what I was thinking. I have seen similar wood in PET store for birds, but they said it is treated and can't be used in the tank...no risky chances here. thanks again

One thing I would alter is the heater position...Try placing it at 45 degree so the heat rises away from the bi-metallic strip that switches the heater off and on...You can however have it vertical if its in the path of a really high flow as this would not allow the heat to rise directly upwards...Just a suggestion:thumbup:
