HEY!!

I'm Noss! My first post was asking about the little Gibby I happened to get :)
So that's pretty much what I have. But I hope to get a larger setup some day to keep some Green Royal plecos along with a couple of Oscars ;)
So far, me and my sis have kept a big bunch of common ancistrus that were breeding from time to time. The babies were sucking on their parents' backs *lol*

This gibbiceps of mine was said to not breed in aquaria, but he was ridiculously cheap in that case!! (I paid 6€ as I got 50% discount thanks to a bonus card of sorts) while they had some other, white-striped (not zebra plecos, but very similar) around in another tank, selling them for 60€ a piece since they were caught in the wild. You sure they don't breed in aquariums?

welcome noss.
the reason that you wont breed a gibby in a home tank is that they breed in mud holes in the river banks, you would need something like a 3 to 4 foot long cave, meaning your tank would want to be big enough to house these caves and still leave room for the fish to come in and out. at a guess, i'd say you would want a tank that is 12 foot or more long, and 6 foot wide.
they are really cheap because in the far east, they are bred in massive ponds by the thousands
