Hi all!
I'm really New to these sucker-mouth bottom dwelling fishes and love them dearly! I have just acquired 2 different type's through a 30% off sale at my local fish store here in the Pacific N.W. and are now learning the L number system for these.
One is a Colombian Zebra pleco #L-129 and the other is a Leopard #L-165.
I would like to find a few others and hoping some of you are breeding these and are willing to educate and share some of your fry...
So after doing some further research I am seeking the L-181, & or L-183 and L-289 & LDA-08.
I'm NOT new to Aquaria as I have kept a variety of freshwater fishes including C.A.R.E.S. species (livebearers) from Mexico in different 10 tanks I have had running for over 4 years now. Thanks to my gracious girlfriend who taught and introduced me to this wonderful hobby 5 years ago! I work in the Aerospace industry (Boeing) and would like to meet other Aquarists but have not found anyone in my local area to share my passion for fish as of yet...
I would also like to know if what I'm doing for these newly acquired Pleco's is on track before I acquire anymore?
I keep these in a 20 gallon and a 15 gallon with seasoned logs and feed algae pellets, blanched green beans, and also provide some protein pellets once a week. The L-129 was moved to another tank due to it's extremely shy and won't come out from under its cave-style log!!! I have checked for it after the lights go out and still it has not been seen since I got it 2 weeks ago! I flipped the log over 2 days ago and put it in a tub of its aquarium water just to see if it was getting skinny. He make a funny popping sound at me when I picked it up like a bullhead! I think I'm might have a "wild" one here!!! How do I get it to eat let alone witness it doing so??? Please help as this is a nice harder to find Pleco in the hobby as I'm seeing.
Thanks!
