They are different species i will pull up the info.
Also one of the wholsalers has on a few occasions mixed these up with commons leading in unsuspected sale of incorrectly identified fish.

we get a lot of these in one of my LFS advertised as common bns, went in last week and saw about 30 Rio Ucayali at £4.95 each

Agreed, quite an elongate fish especially when young, almost remind me of Lasiancistrus

I thought the same Lasiancistrus, but lasiancistrus lack "tentacles" un-like ancistrus.

Sorry xingu i worded that wrong i was reffering to the spp in general not the individual.
But yeah there is a clear difference between the orangespot and common ancistrus sp i had some young fish i had raised from 3cm the male grew bristles as per usual but in a flat branch shape much like a wobegong shark.
