Firstly Rocca, sorry for turning this into a 'sale thread' 'for my fish mate.
I'll have to keep you in mind dog. When we move to acerage i plan to set up some 6'x4' ponds for breeding fish

Eric, I honestly have nothing to hide but totally trust the guy I purchased these fish from - he has very good connections and is well trusted by heaps of people in melb, but little of them know what he has at home!
I have never done dna testing but I believe it to be appx $200 per go and that's just to find out simple stuff like gender. I guess it has it's merits but with something like this they would have to map the genome for both type of fish in question (if pure test fish were available and they weren't testing hybrids to start with).
Who knows what silly amounts of money would have to be spent but one day it may become affordable to do such things. Some types of fish such as L's etc in the wild as well as in tanks by second rate breeders are almost certainly crosses between others such as several of the hypans etc.
Anyway, all of this is simply a matter of opinion and I do honestly believe these to be true occelaris - hopefully the pic update will show differences between the monos that are all too common.
