Hey mate, I have some PB cichla occelaris if you want some. They're 9-10cm and I'm looking for $10 per cm in length. I have 7 and will do better for the lot.

You won't find these doing the rounds much as almost all are monoculus NOT occelaris - hence the difference in price.

Hey dog.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think you have pure occels, most are hybrids from asia. They may be more pure, but they are still hybrids. If they are pure, great stuff, should grow them up and breed them :).

Please don't take offence, I might be wrong, i'd love to be wrong and find occels in Aus :).

Eric.

Dog are u Lalor aquarium... Sash???
If I were, I'd be lying as he only had mono's from what I heard.
They are to the best of my knowledge PURE occelaris and I got them from a breeder who doesn't like selling on forums due to threat of thefts etc. He has been doing this for about 20 years and I used to have pics of the parents on a host site from ages ago but they have been scrubbed from the site (not sure what their policy is but none-the less, they're gone).

The parents were quite distinctive and easy to differentiate from mono's at breeding size.

I can only give my word, and it will have to do. Fancy having to trust someones word in this day and age!!! LOL.

Firstly Rocca, sorry for turning this into a 'sale thread' 'for my fish mate.

Eric, I honestly have nothing to hide but totally trust the guy I purchased these fish from - he has very good connections and is well trusted by heaps of people in melb, but little of them know what he has at home!

I have never done dna testing but I believe it to be appx $200 per go and that's just to find out simple stuff like gender. I guess it has it's merits but with something like this they would have to map the genome for both type of fish in question (if pure test fish were available and they weren't testing hybrids to start with).
Who knows what silly amounts of money would have to be spent but one day it may become affordable to do such things. Some types of fish such as L's etc in the wild as well as in tanks by second rate breeders are almost certainly crosses between others such as several of the hypans etc.

Anyway, all of this is simply a matter of opinion and I do honestly believe these to be true occelaris - hopefully the pic update will show differences between the monos that are all too common.

Exactly, i'm fine with hybrids, just that I don't like seeing people pay for fish that, well aren't those fish.

I'm still keen :)
