Hi all

My pepps have stopped breeding - haven't bred for months.

Last year I bought some adult pepps from different people. Within a week they were breeding (1 male, 3 females)! They bred for months and months. I introduced a younger male and he bred almost straight away as well. I then introduced a much younger trio. The others kept breeding. Then they suddenly stopped. Since then I have also bought another breeding trio. Still nothing. I've divided the tank in 3 so each male has his own space. Still nothing.

They are fed vegies and wafers. I do a 50-60% water change every 2 weeks, which usually induces spawning. Nothing. I put some India almond leaves in - nothing.

They are in a 400 litre tank. Nitrates are relatively low.

I've read somewhere that they often stop in the summer months - is this the case?

what else can I do to get them to breed again?

many thanks
Ant.

maybe you have introduced too many new ppepps into a system that was working fine, that it interupted them. I would rearrange the whole tank set up and make sure you have new caves, rocks, wood etc, that each have enough to hide in and also break up the line of sight. With 3M and 9F in the tank now, I think you have to reduce the F quota or the males will be fighting over too many females. Also make sure that the 3 males are not fighting each other and instead reserve the energy to chase and wooo the females. Good luck cheers jk
