I wouldn't want to say exactly which yours was out of L340, L129, L270.

Well have been looking everywhere to try and ID it....
I am now beginning to think it is not a L340 as I have a young one of these and looking a various pics on the net the stripes just are not the same, or colour.
Now you have said a L129 been looking at pics and the stripes seem to match in some pics.
Then some shots make me think it maybe a L270 ... lol
He's gone in to hiding now, so when he's about again I'll try and get a few shots.
If you want distinguish several Hypancistrus, then strips and colors are less important than the body proportions and other physical characteristics.
If one want to distinguish between Hypancistrus debilittera (L 129) and Hypancistrus sp. "L 340", one should count the teeth.
But the Hypancistrus debilittera (L 129)-group is more extensive.
