What is the lighting set up of your tank? Size and Type of Bulbs? Ive always liked the Hagen Power-Glo and Aqua-Glo as they both have a great range on the color spectrum both are easy to get as T8 Tubes but Quite hard to get T5`s

well its personal preference, but I think blue light is nice and easier for the plecs, if you really dont want any plants.

Do the blue lights provide the lighting spectrums(right word?) that plecs need to thrive?

well it also depends if there is any natural daylight in the room that the tank is in.
I have 2 tanks with no lights at all and some with very limited lighting, but all get some daylight so plants seem to be ok and fish are fine
