hi, i seldom use meds on my fish but would like opinions on which meds are safe to use on plecos, corys and other cats, is there a fairly comprehensive list of what is safe to use, or those to use at halfdose only or not at all. i have a gill and body fluke outbreak in one of my tanks that contains some corys and an otocinclus, would like to use sterazin but is that safe at full dose?:dk:

Most meds are far as I know are safe for catfish except for Copper Sulphate. I would half dose Malachite Green and try Copper at 1/3-1/2 dose if you wanted to use it.
And half dose salt.

Praziquantel and Fenbendazole are safe for catfish and used for treating flukes.
Trichlorfon is probably safe as well but is toxic if left to long or too high dose.

Potassium Permanganate baths are also effective.

thanks guys, treatment seems to have worked (used cedapraz or flukesolve as now called)

with regards salt, whats the highest dose you'd go to, so many recommendations i've seen for other non-catfish tropicals varying from 1 teaspoon (5g) per gallon (~0.1%) all the way through to 3% for 10 minutes (which i have never done, and sounds a bit harsh to me, as its virtually full strength sea water)

Glad the Ceapraz worked for you, I use it all the time on my new marine stock....Works every time
I only use the 1 teaspoon per gall of salt but not sure on the limit...I know marines can tolerate a total freshwater bath for up to 5 mins so its very possible that fresh waters can take a 3% salt for a short time.
