I voted 260 because they are the next most expensive but I love the look of 134's although none of them look like a zebra, nothing does really

nothing looks like a zebra - thats why they are so unique... i quite like 174's - common name is spotted zebra... but still nothing close to "the zebra"

but from your option i like 260's next but nothing like a zeb in appearance

333's would be closet if you have whute/black ones... and thats purely just going on colours...

No vote from me as nothing on your list look anything like a L46. Only L173 looks the closest and probably cost more than L46. So it is not a 'poor man' substitute. If money is an issue, go with the cheapest pleco that you can afford which will be L333 porto de moz. You didn't specify which L333 is on your list, as there are a few types of pleco under the L333 number. However, if you are looking for something that will give you the best 'return', assuming you have the knowledge, skills, and time to get it the spawn for you (a big assumption here), L134 would be the best choice but it is a more difficult species to breed. I am constantly sold out of L134 despite a breeding colony of over 16 WC specimen.

BTW L174 is called leopard zebra here which is a really attractive name. There is also one that looks very much like it, L470 'mimic' which is a larger fish.

they are all bigger than L46, there are some other species that are closer, like chocolate zebra L270 or columbian zebra.

I chose L134, because theres much less l260 fry available, than L46, just my thoughts though, and on the rare occasion ive L260 fry available they have been closer to the pprice of L46 fry,

I vote the L134 as I have one of those guys. Very cool fish, very striking. Certainly not and L046 but a beautiful fish just the same.

In terms of breeding and feeding Hypan L270 is a good little one. It is called chocolate zebra.

Another who can be a challenge to spawn but looks nothing like a zebra except for size and keeping requirements is the Hypan L201.

I would say Hypancistrus L260 is harder than zebs so don't go down that road until you are sure of it.

quite the opposite actually i can remember them in a local fishop when i was a teenager and that was @#$$%^ years ago lol.... just say a long time ago :lol::lol:

just they can be a ferocious breeder and males do quite often kill females.... especially if the male is mature and has an immature female.... and can be other way around too mature female getting into males cave when all he wants to do is fight other males and dominate his territory and gives female a flogging for being in his cave....
