Well where do you start, it was interesting still no power or phone but I now have a generator so i can at least charge things as needed and keep the essentials going fridge freezer and most important the fish room.
Out of the devastation came one lost fish a male L002, (appropriately given a family funeral and a place in the front yard). we managed to keep all the others going by doing water changes every couple of hours not big ones just enough to keep the water turning over with fresh oxygenated water.
two days of doing that then I got a gen set and connected it to the important things first Fish, Fridge, freezer, then had to work out loading to see what else could be connected safely (but if the fish took all the load everything else could wait)
Now I have L397, L002, and peppermints with eggs, and during the cyclone Royal Whiptails hatched and are doing pretty good fingers crossed. The L397 I have had for about two years and this is the first spawn so must be the weather hey.
Anyway that’s about all I can say for now but it was and has been an experience we will never forget and hope that we never have to go through again, new Generator on its way and electrician being employed to hard wire to power board just in case.

every cloud hey!

nice work and i must say props on the dedication to the fish :)

I suspect it is the drop is pressure that triggers a lot of it. I have heard several reports of people who get mad breeding during big storms and cyclones etc. I know that if i time a cool water change with a pressure drop I'm seldom disapointed!

update

the other pair of Royal Whiptails laid a batch of eggs last night and he is fanning away over them, my wife would have been so disappointed if we lost our fish even though the fish are my hobby she still takes an interest and cannot see any animal suffer if it can be avoided.
I intend at the beginning of next year to build a fish room away from the house and it will be just for fish probably a room around 6 meters by 9 meters at least then my wife can have the car port back not that she minds me using for the fish. might have to do a story on it from start to finish something to think about.
Anyway I hope that everyone is well and the fish keep you as interested and ever curious as they do me and my family. The cyclone is gone and the clean-up is well under way for me probably another week away before I finish and then have the mandatory arguments with the insurance company to fix replace what was damaged.
