questions on external

hey everyone, was wondering if anyone can recomend any good external filters? ive absolutly had it with my juwel one, its been a nightmare :wb:
ive been looking on some sites and found 3 of my faves. The eheim classic 2213, the eheim proffesional 2224, or the tetra tec ex 700. what do you guys think? And any suggestions or recomendations will be greatly apreciated cheers :hi:

I would say the proffesional 2224 was the best there from experace. More eperanced people would be better to give you advice.

But (head in shame ) i am running Fluval externals at the min only one i have trounble with is the 205 which is me not the filter, but would recomend the 305 and FX but thay are too big for you i think.

I have a tetra tec 1200 and 700 and had no problems at all with them, I also have a ehiem 2028 and 2213 and only had to replace the shaft on the 2213 once. They are all pretty good nowadays it just depends what manufacturer you steer towards.

if it helps any i also have had a 2213 for 13+ years running 24-7 and think i have had to replace the impellor twice:yes: look also at the running cost's the classics dont use much power.

I have used all the filters listed & cant really fault any of them all depends on your budget & how much performance you need from filter

I have the 2224 and it's a good filter, and the quitest being almost silent. I had a tetratec ex1200 and it was always a bummer leaking after cleaning - drove me crazy. Running costs may be an issue for you. the 700 is 13 watts and the 2224 is 8 watts not much difference but it is nearly 44,000 watts over a year!

Hi all,
Plenty of 2nd hand Eheim 2213 come up on Ebay in the UK, and even ones with all the taps, tubing and media often only sell for £25 - £30 ish including P&P.
