Hi guys,
Im really am getting hacked off with my juwel lighting units. I lost one of the two on my Rio 400 to a internal fire about 3 weeks ago, and lost the other yesterday. The second lighting unit was full of water! Im assuming it was getting in through either the arms that hold the bulbs or there is a break in the sealed unit some where. They have lasted 30-36 months
I don't really want to be replacing 2 T5 highlite lighting units @£200-£240 every 30 months. So I'm looking for alternatives. Has anyone rigged these Juwel lighting units with standard tubes? eg, brought a seperate starter and bulb and some how fixed it to the exsisting lid or broken light unit? I don't really want to leave one or 2 bulbs loose across the stress bars, as they are plastic and i don't want to tempt fate. My cats sleep on top of the tank from time to time, so an open lid is not really an option.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers
Darryl
