do you need to add stuff to it like you do with tap water?
can you just put it in the tank?

RO water is filterd tap water through a Reverse osmosis membrain. this membrain only lets pure water pass through and removes all the contaminates that cause high nitrate etc
it also lower's the ph as it removes the carbonates from water making it unstable if used neat.
Ro can be mixed remineralizing fluids ,tap water or HMA
I use declorinated tap water to stabalise the ph and set its value. puts you in control so to speek. Hma filters are often used to filter the tap water so you will often see a HMA/RO % mix.

Im sure others will explain bits i have missed off.

I´m using a peatbucket that will stabilize the ph ( and in my case lower it)

From my tap a get ph 7,5 and mickrosimens of 270 µS
After ro and peat ph 3,5 and 9 µS
