Difficult to say with any confidence. As sandstone is a sedimentary rock it all depends on what its made of which can vary. You'd need to go through the testing with vinegar to see if it'd break down and/or placing the rock into some water and testing to see if there are any changes. Even then i'd be a bit cautious.

i would use as an alternative river pebbles and rocks. Flower power ( a garden center) has these available and after cleaning and testing, I have them in each tank. cheers jk :thumbup:
