Hi,
I have been given a 25L Fluval Chi (freecycle is brilliant) and was woundering if it is possible to start the filter media using anything from my 240L tank that has been running for a year and half.
I don't have anything like ammonia of filter start or even any water tests.

do you have any other filter material from the old tank ? You could use that, however still monitor this and do not stock with fish straight away . cheers jk :thumbup:

When i had the same issue, i simply took an old media pack out of my existing tank filter and dumped it in the new tank.
Think it was the ammonia remover.
Never had any issues with the cycling of it at all.
Another option (if you don't use media filters) is to scoop some gravel out of your existing tank and pop it in your new one.
