ok major hick up!! I am about to obtain a worm line pleco and thought that as i no longer use the internal filter in my rio 180 that i would remove the black box that is sitting ideal....making new room for his cave.....

wellll.... i was exspecting a s*it storm ..... also highlighted because my 14000lh external pump had stoped to all but a drip..... so at 1am i have had to set up my flurval u4, two extra air pumps ontop of the one already in their and do a total flush through of the external pump...and there was me thinking i was going to sit back and watch criminal minds b4 bed!!

If anyone has any ideas of how to do a super clean let me know.... i've also done a 25% water change, if i had any more pumps i'd stick them in there aswell just to filter it all out a.s.a.p!

Poor fish...i'd never want to swim in poo and hate the thougth of them doing the same.... however one good thing is about a year ago i bought two cooly loach (totaly spelt wrong) and i didnt see them since, well i found them again!!!

i truly hope that my pump filters as much as it said on the lable!

wow well done on your worm line plec 135. It does not matter on the filter capacity too much, but more on how many fish you have in your tank.
The filter might be able to turn over 1200l/per hour, but maybe not enough of the bacterial cleaning. How mnay fish do you have in your tank at the moment and what size is it ? cheers jk

Id use a syphon tube and do some daily smallish water changes to get rid of most of the crap.

it will soon settle on the bottom or in the filters so will need daily hoover and wash, but not masses of w/c. dont worry sometimes the 'poo' is not all what it seems and contains worms and nutriants the fish like to eat.

Do you clean the pipework of your external regularly? If not the flow can be reduced by more than you would think.. This is something to do in the future as it will help keep the filter flow running at max = cleaner water.

Something like this will help
