Hi ive just bough a third aquarium off ebay (125 litre) and its got a tiny crack on the bottom of the glass about a inch wide. The crack only goes through about half of the glass as when i feel on the bottom its not there.

If i cover it in aquarium safe silicone will that fix the problem??

Bri has a small crack too lol....anyway, you could silicone a piece of glass over the crack and the weight of the water should keep it water tight, however if the crack is from the edge of the tank i wouldnt risk it as Brian says. Get your money back if it wasnt stated in the AD that it had a crack.

haha, i put the tank in my bath before and filled it to the top for a hour and it seemed to be fine i think the crack is a couple of mill thick, i might go with the glass idea and leave it outside 4 a few days to see how it gets on. the thing is i only paid £10 4 it and its got a hood and full lighting as well.

thanks

Make sure you use plenty of aquarium safe silicon when adding the layer of glass and make sure the piece of glass that you use is alot larger than the crack. If the crack is at or near the edge of the tank just push the repair piece right up against the side and silicone around all edges very well. We fixed quite a lot of our old tanks that way, once it's got gravel in it then you wont notice it at all. Remember silicon between the 2 sheets of glass and around all edges to stop water getting in between and don't be afraid of using too much...it's better to use too much then not enough.
