gday,

I've read and serched the forum about feeding up your L's to spawning condtion. At the moment I've got some L333's and wondering what foods are used for spawning conditioning? Is it more food? Frequant feeding? Change of food or varity of foods? many thanks in advance.

Hello,

I would suggest feeding a high protein diet if you wish to try and spawn the L333. IE Blood worms, krill, brine shrimp and pellets. Feed twice a day.
please however also keep in mind, frequent water changes, possibly daily 15 or 20%. Remember though it is winter as well and less sunlight, so Ls are aware of daylight hours etc. how big are your L333s and are they ready and what is your split ? cheers jk

I've got 6 ranging from about 7cm to about 10cm, i dont want to risk pulling them out of there tank to messure them this time o year. I think i have either 4m/2f or 3m/3f. I dont think there ready to spaw yet hopefully at the end of year or coming months. I also have cherry shrimp in the tank, wether that makes any difference.

They aren't as big a carnivore as you think and will still love a bit of cucumber or zuccini once or twice a week.
Staple food for mine is Hikari algae wafer and sera flora flake. Extra goodies once or thrice a week might be sera viformo, shrimp pellets, massivore tabs, or hikari carnivore tabs.
I only feed like 1/4 of the good stuff to 3/4 of the staple one.

in my experience spawning l066 and l104 if you do regular water changes and feed them well ,i keep ph around 5.5 to 6.5 and keep the water soft once they mature nothing stops them from spawning cheers

Hi

I have found food is just one part of the spawning trigger.
I believe that many things bring about spawning behaviour. Having observed and studied a very limited number of species across very few genus’s my observations are that they are interlinked.
Water and food are the primary triggers saying this they are dependant of climatic situations.
I await a report of rain in the next few days and I begin feeding small invertebrates like brine shrimp and black mosquito larvae along with greens. I also turn off the MHA on my water system and start doing 30% to 40% cool neat R/O water changes daily or twice daily for two days.

Dry as chips here lately. Rainwater tanks are getting quite low too. Someone send me some rain please?

Never had a gravid zeb before but I have recently added in wardley shrimp pellets to the diet like twice a week which they seldom had before. They must be liking them as one's gravid now.
