The "spotted talking" cat fish is a name applied to several species of spotted Doradidae
But in general the species Agamyxis albomaculatus is refered to as the spotted talking catfish.

From what information I have gained keeping these fish I would say if you going to get any success spawning them the water conditions will not be the deciding factor , they seem to survive in almost any water.

I have observed in other species of small Doradidae what could be called nest building they will gather up general junk in the tank or they will find a area were old leaf litter and bits of wood are and try to hide under it with other fish of the same species swimming around the pile of junk. sadly I never had any luck.

I have been asking just the same thing on planetcatfish forums, I hear they are bred in Australia as they are not allowed to be imported but that's all I know, I keep scouring so if I come across anything; I'll be sure to tell you here.
