ok,sorry to ask, but had to recalibrate the new heater(eheim/jager)next day, so now if wanna change temp , just turn the temp dial , right? don't need to recalibrate after initial time , right ?
pls give me break , it was a rough weekend .

When adding a new heater to an aquarium with fish, its always best to do it in a bucket of water first to make sure it is working correctly... If you don't do this, and the heater is faulty by jamming on, you will cook your fish.
Most heaters are factory pre set at 26c , but may need some fine tuning by turning the knob at the top of heater until you reach your desired temp. always give it an hour or so to stabilize before altering again

Zeebo i believe they just need calibrating once. however over time and use they may need checking ;o)
I replace every 3 to 5 years
I have found the never heaters are less stable this may be due to reduced costs ect

thanks for the advice.. I do eyeball the thermostat walking past it, and since the rena only lasted 3 yrs before going on a blink fest, ,couldn't trust, seems smart to be cautious... Can replace 3 yrs with 2 tanks is affordable ,esp to avoid disaster.

wish I knew about the'' week long'' test in bucket, earlier , makes good sense...but in tank now . Learning ,thanks.
