probably more of a fry tank, but if good filter in it could keep an LDA08 or L340 I guess, these are smaller plecs than most

I wouldnt keep anything apart from Shrimp in there and even then I would only be keeping the shrimp to feed to the Geo's:yes:.

Fry IMO need big volumes of water in order to grow on. Just because they are small does not mean they will be ok in a small tank:)

I have one of these and I keep my male Endlers (all of 6, I keep them here, away form their mothers), and I keep some shrimp in there as well.
I have a sponge filter and an internal in it, a 50Watt heater..
The only thing you have to watch is it gets real warm in summer, It need the light off during simmer in the day, the lid can be left open also, this helps dissipate some heat...
All in all, I don't find it too bad of a little tank, for a quarantine or spare running tank..

I think its all down to water quality. the typical internal filter provided with small tanks, here in uk anyway, is useless for more than a few shrimps and plants and small dither fish. if you have a much better filter and change water frequently I think it will hold Bn fry or similar.
could also keep it as a qt tank

I wouldn't have the problem of it overheating because I've ditched the lid. It's falling apart from rust around the light. Lol. so it's just the tank. I'm not going to use the filter that came with it because it's an under gravel filter and I want to try using sand instead. I've been looking around for some small internal filters that I could possibly use, but I've gotta sort out what I'm using the tank for first.
If it's for fry, I'll probably leave the bottom bare with a little piece of driftwood I have here.

I've bred fish in a 380 size tank using the overhead trickle filter that comes with it. As long as its cycled and you perform weekly water changes you will be okay. But it would make a good hospital / quarantine/ fry tank as well.

I have in the past tried using as a holding tank for fry with mixed results, water quailtly with small tanks is hard at the best of times i now leave it for sick fish i also have one for growing small plants and another for otto fry and shrimp.
Only way to upgrade is to have a cansiter to boost water clarity and bacteria amount.
