one of my sterbai cories has got some kind of bacterial/ fungal infection. he has some patches on his body and some finrot. i dont want to treat the whole tank as it has fry in, and i cant seperate him. can i put him in my large (30cm) fry saver and treat him with a general tonic? cheers

Tricky one if you haven't got somewhere else to treat him.
I did once treat a long term reoccuring fungus by painting Betadine direct onto the fish, blowing on it to dry as well as i could and putting him back in the tank.
It flattened the fungus in one treatment and it never came back. Cory lived to a ripe old age.

I have treated plecs in that way just put them in a fry saver just to observe the fish, i see no harm in doseing the tank with anti-fungus and finrot treatment as long as you stick to the guidelines on doseing you should be fine, and if you havnt already got your tank temp to around 84F that would be good also

once the spores are in the tank you need to treat the whole tank unless you have UV
I agree with Irene you should treat the whole tank. Try also putting aqua gel on him, I recently used this on Mr longfin, that had mistaken the heater as a great place to sit and it healed him great!

hope he gets better :)
