Hi All,

Just thinking of the logic, that most Ls spawn after the dry season, I am thinking of doing the following.

1. do a 10% water change, then fill up again to normal level
2. then remove 30% of the water in the tank and do not replace
3. turn off one of the internal power heads
4. feed only every 3 days.
Do this for 2-3weeks. After this period
remove a further 20% of the water, fill up with new water to max level, restart the power head and feed protein etc, do 10% water change daily for 7-8 days.

This to me would indicate wet and dry season?

Any thoughts or has anybody attempted this or uses similar methods ?

Cheers jk

My method is quite like that.
I do tank temperature water changes every 2 to 3 days using RO and HMA water with a TDS of under 200 and over 175 for a week.
I then run of a few gallons of neat RO let the tanks stand for a week and feed protein foods ie blood worm ect. I turn of the heaters and let the Thermo filters heater that is set at around 24 c take over
Then I do a50% water change using the neat cold RO turn the heaters back on and add some extra bog wood and turn the internal power head on.
It seems to work once they get the taste of sex they will run on auto.

I don't start messing round with any of that stuff until I see I have gravid females and a male in a cave. Once I have fat females, I might do more frequent water changes. The water in Sydney is already very soft (about 120ppm). If you do frequent, small water changes that usually stimulates the fish to start breeding over a couple of weeks.
