i was doing a water change on one of my tanks today when i found loads of what look like tiny eggs, they are all out of the surface on leaves and the corners of the glass, i cant see they they are from any thing i keep as i only have rasboras, cherry shrimp, zebs, and tatia. we were thinking some form of insect? has anyone seen these before or got any ideas??

firstly nice photo !
but these are not snail eggs as snail eggs tend to be in a jelly sack!
kind stuck together

are any of your fish egg layers?

Nope, they are not nerites. These were found out of the water and nerites lay their eggs one at a time underwater

has the tank got a lid?,or open?
if open it might be some sort of insect eggs.
it does have a lid but there are the corners gaps for filters pipes and cables, plus it is near a window, so that is why i was thinking an insect of sorts :dk:

either way i think i will have to remove them as they dont sound like something i'm going to want to keep, i have enough problems with the mts's

if out of water i would think snail too, maybe your snails are not id correctly? you do not say how big the eggs are. they are not apple snails as these usually are slightly pink and look more like pale rasberry, as in clumpy. can you photo the snails?

the eggs are tiny, way to small for nerite eggs, plus my nerites have been breeding already, so i can eliminate them, i dont think i can get rid of all the eggs anyway, as i opened up my filter and they have been sucked into there too, i'm a little worried i'll get infested by something undesirable. i will let you all know if something comes of it

also the eggs dont seem 'stuck' on the leaf stems, if water splashes them they just come away and float round the tank
