Unknown Pleco

Hey everyone. I have owned pleco's on and off for years. Most I knew what they were but this little guy (4.5-4 inches) has me clueless. I bought it at Petsmart. It was skinny but very feisty and I immediately fell in love with it.

Can anyone identify what this guy is? Or even if it is a male or female? Any help would be appreciated so I can make sure to get the right food for it. Right now its been fattening up on overflow food and veggie wafers.

Common pleco. P.pardalis/disjunctivus.
Get really large, 16" or more is quite possible.

Thankyou for your responses guys I got the correct food then. Would you guys know if it was male or female, or is it too young still?

Way to small even at a large size really difficult to tell. Hope you have a big tank they can grow quickly.

Right now in 30 gal tank, will be moved to a 75 gal tank later this winter. Just about have the money saved up for the larger tank.
