im thinking of putting a uv on my 5ft tank (550l) but which one to go for ?
was looking at the aquael 1000(£34), spoke to the shop that sells them he suggested a vectron 600(£79), just spoke to another shop who suggested a vectron 200 (£49), im not having any water quality issues but the water is slightly cloudy which im hoping will improve with a uv.

any ideas please

Vectrons are good. The vectron 200 is only up to 200 Litres so I would think about the 600 which is up to 600L. It might be cheaper to get one online somewhere.

My personal opinion would be to find out why your water is cloudy & deal with it appropriately rather than buy something to hopefully help. The addition of a UV may help eliminate the cloudy water but it may do nothing for the cause of the cloudy water which could be some initial symptoms of a larger lurking problem. Always better to cure the diseae rather than treat the symptoms.

My thoughts exactly.

I agree, having said that its not a bad idea to use UV to help reduce risk of infections.
tell us more about the tank and will see if have any ideas on why its cloudy.
eg what is the filtration, what fish and how much food etc and if many plants.

i use the internal aquael on small tanks but for a 5 ft i use vecton. you dont give other dimension of the tank so not sure how many litres it holds. also sepends on what size external filter you hvae for the flow rate over the UV bulb. have a llok at their web site for more info. then shop around.
