Hi there

I have a 2m x 70cm x 50cm (700ltr) tank and am running an Eheim 2080 & 2026. The Ecco 2026 is at one end with the spray bar angled so that it flows along the length of the tank breaking the surface. The 2080 is at the other end spraying across the width just under the surface but I dont think its in the best position. I seem to have a dead space in the middle of the tank. I have tried positioning it along the side but the flow was too much for my fish! They just went down the other end. Any ideas?

thanks :)

hello,

By all means it does partly depend on what fish you have, however I like to have a circular flow. You will always have a sort of dead spot, but what I would do is the following.
1. Spray bar on left, pointing down forcing the water down then to the right
2. Spray bar on right . pointing so water flow is direct on water line to the right.
Now you would get a circular motion left to right in a circle.
I would also possibly consider and airstone in the middle. I also have a power head assising with the flow.
just what I do with my tanks. cheers jk

Got a Sailfin Pleco, a few cardinal tetras and 6 black widow tetras. Looking to get some more tetras in a few weeks once the new tank can take the extra load.

The Eheim pipes are not very bendy so looks like I will have to get some t-pieces/elbows - want to plan it beforehand so I get the right ones. I have the standard green straight spray bars - they do a odd shaped grey one - does anyone have any experience of this?

How do you find your black widow tetras, i had about 9-10 of them in my community tank when i had it running and my god they were such a pain to catch when i decided to get rid of them and had to go out and buy an extra large net.

Love the Black Widows - they are very active! When I moved them to the new tankI managed to catch all of them no problem except one female! She gave me the runaround! Two nets did the trick though.

I have apair of the pro3 filters in a similar tank. I have one filter inlet flowing straight down the side of the tank via a spray bar (past its own pick up at the bottom), this current flows towards the other side of the tank where the other filter pick up is sucking. Then above this pick up my other outlet is going accross the surface flowing the other way creating a big loop. Works great, filters pick up everything and the tank is stocked with some big boys ;-0
