I was going to ask which make you guys prefer but...

Think, after reading the threads, that its eheim.

Ive looked at the FX5, Some '600' model that has apparently replaced the tetratec or is a copy( something along those lines anyway ) and i was in two minds. Basically i already have the two externals that came with the tank but was always going to change upto bigger when i could.

So... now is the time.

Question is now which eheim model i see that there is a lot of talk for the '3'?

Bearing in mind i was thinking about the other two above because they were cheap. Is it worth the hassle if they are going to give me problems..
:wb:
Tuppence anyone?

Any filter has its bad points with Eheim it is the price.

I have refurbished a few (around 50) i have never had a problem that is not easy to fix.

I have not used the series 3 range but pro 1 pro 2 and the classic range are in my opinion the best ever.

From my point a 2128 or a 2228 are the best you canget.

The 2128 is that the one with the heater in?

Do you find these good, i mean is there any bad points about the heater below?

If the heater unit fails can the filter still be run?

D the filter runs independently of the heater.

I find them wonderful easy to clean and a good bacterial action. As I said the down side is price around £250:00 new. All depends on what you want to spend
Like any thing spend a lot get a lot.

I only had one fail on me
The heater element exploded But this is the only time I have ever heard og this happening and to be honest it was second hand unit I did not check before using.

Im not worried about spending that amount- i just want to know im spending it worthwhile:whistle:

then the next decision is which one, i not sure that i want one of these new ones with lcd screens, electronic gizzmo's as to me it is something else to go wrong.
Although i am quite intrigued with the internal heater ones thou!

I need one that will be more than i am currently filtering. I have 2x 1200's from aquaone that i think doe around 400 litres each.

I have been taking a squizz at this Xl professional 3- any comments on it?

Eheim:clap:

The only "problem" ever encountered is when I need to replace the O-ring and thats only after running it (pro 2s) for 4 to 5 years.

I am running 4 x Pro3 right now and very reliable! I stayed away from electronic models for the same reasons too. :hi:
