Hello everyone!

I'd like to add some more wood in my tanks but the local fish store here in New Caledonia has some poor little expansive piece of wood that I actually already have..

What kind of wood can I take to put in my tank? does all the wood can be immersed without rotting?

can I take a living branch and let it dry with the sun? Does someone here ever done this before?

Thank you! :hi:

I would suggest you go for a bush walk and look at dead wood that is lying around on the ground. I try to find wood that has been eaten and rotten out in the middle by termites. Be careful as some can be poisonous. When I get wood back to home, I make sure it is dry then put it is a large tub for 6-8weeks. This will get rid of tanins and also soak the wood. I do not know what you have over in New Caledonia, but check with your National Park members what is ok to use . Oak is safe as is birch I think. In Sydney I use some types of eucalypt as well.
hope this helps cheers jk
