When to get decent Lights???

Hi All,

Just wondering where you got your lights from???

I am looking for 2x 4ft lights with either 4x55w or 2x90w.... but for a decent price, I'm not looking for one plated in gold!!!!

I have seen some online that are over $660AUD!! :cry: but they sure looked pretty swish!

Any ideas?

Need to know a type of light tube type etc ,leaving away from city try a online site will more than likely work out cheaper to the door than driving hours to Melbourne and back.
What are you lighting up tank?, plants ( type of light depands on either easy types or medium or hard ) easy low light hard $$$ lighting.

Are lights to go in a hood or ontop of tank, or on a chain/frame?

I need about 400w for an 8x2x2. was looking at the T5's..... Thinking a T5 with 4x54w (x2) would give me 432w.... Live plants, community fish with BN of course. Got the usual pants; Java fern & moss, riccia etc. Want lights to sit under my hood... I drive to Melb for work anyways, so thats not too much of a problem.

Just thought I'd ask around as I haven't set up a tank this big before.

Can these ones sit in your hood or do they have to hang???

T5 set up like you said will be ample unless you want outstanding growth may add co2 also.
Mine are screwed into hood.
