Hello All,

I have 4 new tanks for my rack and wish to paint them.
2 questions

1. Should I paint all three sides, except the front ? Or just the back and one side ?
2. Any thoughts on colour or preference ? I was thinking about black or blue.

Any ideas or help from experience ?

cheers jk

I have read that painting all three sides gives the fish a better sense of securuty and spook less easily.
I agree with Xingu on black for color choice:thumbup:

hi BB, me too, black
as for the sides, i would only paint the side/sides if they are against a wall or other tank , if you cant see in from the side due to obstruction where the tank is placed, i would paint that side ,the fish security thing others said, but if one or both sides are free, i personally like to look in from all angles ,get a better look at things if need be. thats just my 2cents worth.

lucky you , 4 new tanks , Christmas ealry! what do ya have in mind for fishies ? Ouuu, you must be having some great daydreams right now:woohoo:

I would also paint it Black and also the sides as you don't want fish from one tank getting disturbed by their neighbours...My shop ones are blue but thats only so customers can see all the fish...When they were black people were not seeing the darker plecos against the black backgrounds.

I used vinyl in grey(slate) for the last 6 tanks and brown(clay) for the previous 6 tanks on the back and bottom. Was going to do all 3 sides but cost too much.
Much better, easier, quicker than painting (I've done blue & black paint).

The tanks are for breeding/raising fry. If it's for display I'd go for black.
