which sand?

i heard that childrens playsand is safe for aquarium use and allot cheaper! need to get some sand asap. any opinions guys? also i have onother tank coming and gonna stock with geos as well as my plecs, is sand best option? thanks
also if any of yoy guys have had experience with play sand, where should i get mine?

I use aquarium sand from my lfs. It's not cheap though £5 for 5kg.

I did try the Argos play sand, but I found it to be too fine and did not look as nice, it was also blown around by the filters.

i tried childrens play sand, and also found it was too fine, i was forever emptying it out of my filters. effect was nice but i'd stick to aquarium sand or gravel

I use play sand, i like the brightness of it, but as said above, its very fine so will move easily if you have a lot of flow directed toward the bottom.
And yes, the geo's will be much better off with a sand substrate, they sift through it for food and move it around to make nesting areas

other option is silica sand, here in australia you get in from pool shops and costs 12dollars for 20kg. very nice. cheers jk :thumbup:
